The Dansk Mad (Danish Mad) was first published by FORLAGET I.K. For the first two years, the title was GAS (Danish slang for fun). FORLAGET I.K. changed name to WILLIAMS FORLAG around 1969-1970. 75 issues were published in this "first" edition. Beginning in 1979, the Dansk Mad was published by Interpresse, later new named Semic Interpresse. They published until 1997. There were 112 issues published during this "second" edition. In July, 1997, the magazine was taken over by Egmont Serieforlaget from Semic Interpresse. 26 issues were published in the "third" edition. A total of 213 Dansk Mad Magazines were produced over the 3 editions.

A reprint of Gas 1/1962 enclosed with issue 100. Also Gas 2/1962 was made as reprint together with a later issue. No Mad was published after issue 139. Some of the early issues had a special sticker pasted onto the cover by the publisher. These rare stickers are considered very collectible. One is shown below from the first "Gas" issue.
