Norwegian Mad Magazine began in 1971, and continued until 2001 in four editions. The first edition, the Williams-Forlag edition, ran from 1971 to 1972 with only 8 issues published. After a 9 year absence, the second edition or Semic edition, published from 1981 to 1994 claiming 118 issues. The Semic edition was the most
successful of the Norsk Mad Magazines.
In 1995, a new publisher took over for the third edition. This Norsk Mad was known as the Bladkompaniet edition, but lasted only 6 issues until 1996. 5 years later in 2001, the Egmont or fourth edition of the Norsk Mad started. Only 6 issues were produced. 2001 was the final year for the Norsk Mad. A total of 137 issues were published. However, to make sense of the numbers inside most of the second edition issues (Nr XXX fra starten), remember there were 4 "double issues", and none of the first edition Mads are counted. Confused? Try reading one of these issues when you only understand English.
