ABOUT THE SWEDISH MAD
Total Regular Issues, 345

Svenska MAD was published by Williams Frlag AB from January 1960 to March, 1976 and by Semic Press April 1976 to August, 1993 and by Egmont from 1997 to 2002.  In August, 2002, the Svenska Mad began publishing again by Egmont with Simon Grdenfors as editor.  Many issues were issued with special bonuses included such as games, posters, additional pages, maps, stickers, voodoo-doll, a Zeppelin, secret pages, transferable picture,  t-shirts, and other items.

In 1997, the magazine began being called "Svensk MAD" instead of "Svenska MAD".  In 1976, a special issue called 2 was released due to the move of the Swedish MAD magazine. Numbers 3/98 and 7/2000 were also available in special editions for Hewlett-Packard Customers.

Each Swedish Mad is numbered in two different ways. There is the "year-month" system, such as 1987-3, or the third issue of 1987. There is also a consecutive number. Issue 1987-3 would be #244 on the consecutive list. The last issue of the Swedish Mad came out in January of 2002. This would be 2002-1. It states that it is #349 on the consecutive list, but this is not correct. Issue 1976-2 1/2 was not numbered. so you have to add an issue to the total. Then issue 2001-3 and 2001-4 were both numbered #342. There was never an adjustment for this, so you have to add an issue for this error, making the actual consecutive number 351. But it gets trickier! There were 7 double issues (example, 1989-6+7). The consecutive numbers were listed as 271 and 272 even though there was just one magazine. Subtract 7 (double issues) from our new consecutive number of 351 and add 1 for the third edition of Svenska Mad  and you have the total number of Swedish Mads, 345.
